The River Sheaf and its tributaries flow through the south west of Sheffield towards the River Don

The River Sheaf flows from the south-west outskirts of Sheffield to the River Don. On its way it passes through Totley and Dore and then through Abbeydale and Millhouses.

Abbeydale Road (A621) follows the Sheaf between Totley and Millhouses and then the road climbs briefly out of the Sheaf Valley.

The Sheaf flows through Meersbrook, Heeley and Lowfield (where it is followed by the A61) before going into a culvert at Granville Square. At Sheffield Railway Station, the Sheaf is joined by the Porter Brook which has flowed from Ringinglow and the Mayfield Valley, through Whiteley Wood, Fulwood and Ecclesall.

After flowing under the railway station, Sheaf Street and Castle Square, The River Sheaf emerges and flows into the River Don. The junction of the Sheaf and the Don was the site of Sheffield Castle.
